Features

You can enjoy a powerful bass sound using the “MEGA BASS” system.

Installing the battery

(See Fig. )

Open the battery compartment lid at the rear of the radio.

Insert one R03 (size AAA) battery with the  and  marks

aligned correctly.

Close the battery compartment lid.

When to replace the battery

Replace the battery when the sound becomes weak or distorted. Remove

the old battery and insert a new one.

Notes on battery



Do not charge the dry battery.



Do not carry the dry battery with coins or other metallic objects. It

can generate heat if the positive and negative terminals of the

battery are accidentally contacted by a metallic object.



When you are not going to use the unit for a long time, remove the

battery to avoid damage from battery leakage and corrosion.

If the battery compartment lid comes off (See

Fig. )

The battery compartment lid is designed to come off when opened

with excessive force. To put it back on, see the illustration.

 Insert the right hook of the lid into the right hole in the unit.

 Hang the left hook on the left part of the compartment where the

lid fits.

 Slide the left hook toward the left hole in the unit.

Operating the radio

Connect the supplied stereo earphones to  (stereo

earphones) jack.

Set OFF/ON/MEGABASS to ON to turn on the radio.

Set AM/FM MONO/FM ST to FM ST (stereo)*, FM MONO

(monaural), or AM.

Turn TUNE to tune in to a station.

Adjust VOLUME.

* You will hear the sound in stereo only if the program of the station

you are tuned into is in stereo.

To turn off the radio

Set OFF/ON/MEGABASS to OFF.

To improve the reception (See Fig. )

Extend the stereo earphones cord which functions as an FM antenna.

The ferrite bar antenna is built into the unit. Rotate the unit horizontally

for optimum reception.

When the FM reception is poor, set AM/FM MONO/FM ST to FM

MONO (monaural). Although the sound will not be heard in stereo,

noise will be reduced.

In vehicles or in buildings, radio reception may be difficult or noisy. Try

listening near a window.

If you hold or place the radio near a pack of cigarettes, the wrapping

foil may interfere with the AM signal and noise may occur.

If this happens, keep the radio away from the pack of cigarettes.

To enjoy powerful bass sound

Set OFF/ON/MEGABASS to MEGABASS to emphasize bass sound.

Precautions



Operate the unit only on 1.5 V DC with one R03 (size AAA) battery.



The nameplate indicating operating voltage, etc. is located on the

rear exterior.



Avoid exposure to temperature extreme, direct sunlight, moisture,

sand, dust, or mechanical shock. Never leave the unit in a car parked

in the sun.



Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, remove the battery

and have the unit checked by a qualified personnel before operating

it any further.



In vehicles or in buildings, radio reception may be difficult or noisy.

Try listening near a window.



To clean the casing, use a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent

solution.



This product is not designed to be splash-resistant, so you should

take care to use the unit when raining, snowing or in a water-splash

place.

乾電池の交換時期

乾電池が消耗してくると音が小さくなったり、ひずんだりします。その

場合は、乾電池を新しいものと交換してください。

電池入れのふたがはずれたときは（図 ）

電池入れのふたは、開けるときに過大な力を加えると、はずれるように

なっています。はずれた場合は、下図の番号に従って取り付けてください。



ふたの右のツメを穴に差し込み、



左のツメをふたが収まる部分の左側に引っ掛ける。



そのまま左のツメを穴に向けて滑らせる。

ラジオを聞く

ステレオイヤーレシーバーを （ステレオイヤーレシーバー）端子

につなぐ。

スイッチを

つまみを回して、聞きたい放送局の周波数を選ぶ。

つまみで音量を調節する。

受信している番組がステレオ放送の時のみ、ステレオで聞こえます。

受信状態をよくするには

放送の場合

ステレオイヤーレシーバーがアンテナとして働きます。コードをできる

だけ長くのばしてお使いください。

放送の場合

アンテナを内蔵しているので、ラジオの向きを変えて、最も良く受

信できる方向にしてお聞きください。

放送を聞いているときに雑音が気になる場合は、

AM/FM MONO/

FM ST

スイッチを

FM MONO

（モノラル）に切り替えます。ステレオで

はなくなりますが、雑音が減り、聞きやすくなります。

乗り物やビルの中では電波が弱められますので、なるべく窓際でお聞き

ください。

放送を受信している時に、たばこと本機を一緒にして聞いていると、

たばこを包んでいる銀紙が電波を妨害して、雑音が入ることがあります。

その場合は、本機をたばこから離してお聞きください。

迫力ある重低音を楽しむには

OFF/ON/MEGABASS

使用上のご注意



次のような場所には置かないでください。故障の原因となる場合があります。

−温度が非常に高い所（

℃以上）や低い所（

℃以下）。

−直射日光のあたる場所や暖房器具の近く。

−風呂場など湿気の多い所。

−窓を閉め切った自動車内（特に夏季）。ほこりの多い所。



落としたり、強いショックを与えたりしないでください。故障の原因になります。



汚れたときは、柔らかい布でからぶきしてください。シンナーやベンジンなど

は表面をいためますので使わないでください。



ステレオイヤーレシーバーをご使用中、肌に合わないと感じたときは早めに使

用を中止して医師または、お客様ご相談センターに相談してください。



防滴機構になっていませんので雨や雪、水しぶきのかかるところでは充分にご

注意ください。

ステレオイヤーレシーバーで聞くときのご注意

ステレオイヤーレシーバーは、音量を上げすぎると音が外に漏れます。音

量を上げすぎて、まわりの人の迷惑にならないように気をつけましょう。

雑音の多いところでは音量を上げてしまいがちですが、いつも呼びかけ

られて返事ができるくらいの音量を目安にしてください。

万一故障した場合は、内部をあけずに、お買い上げ店またはソニーサー

ビス窓口にご相談ください。

Notes on stereo earphones

Road safety

Do not use stereo earphones while driving, cycling, or operating any

motorized vehicle. It may create a traffic hazard and is illegal in some

areas. It can also be potentially dangerous to play your headsets at

high volume while walking, especially at pedestrian crossings. You

should exercise extreme caution or discontinue use in potentially

hazardous situations.

Preventing hearing damage

Avoid using stereo earphones at high volume. Hearing experts advise

against continuous, loud and extended play. If you experience a ringing

in your ears, reduce volume or discontinue use.

Caring for others

Keep the volume at a moderate level. This will allow you to hear

outside sounds and to be considerate to the people around you.

Warning

If there is lightning when you are using the unit, take off the stereo

earphones immediately.

If you have any questions or problems concerning your unit, please

consult your nearest Sony dealer.
