Improving Video Quality
Video telephone technology over standard phone lines allows you to see
7 to 12 frames (video images) per second. Although this may sound like
many images in only one second, it's actually less than half the video
images per second you see on your television.
To maximize video quality, both parties of a video call should consider
these recommendations:
Place lights in front of you (not behind you).
Wear solid-colored clothing,
Sit in front of a plain background. Avoid plants, busy wallpaper, or
bookshelves.
Move slowly for smooth video.
Set your computer display to High Color (16-bit) or True Color (24-
bit) before you make the next video call. (To do this, click the Start
button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click
the Display icon and click the Settings tab.)
U Exit all unneeded programs.
Video quality depends on the quality of the telephone connection. If
the connection is poor, try hanging up and reconnecting. If you
frequently hear static on your phone, report this to your local phone
company.
Connection Quality Indicator
Video Phone provides a tool to help you monitor telephone line quality.
To use this feature, in the Video Phone View menu, select Connection
Quality Indicator. For more information on connection quality, see the
Troubleshooting section of the online help.
